Trapiche ‘Broquel’ Mendoza Malbec 2013

Malbec from Argentina
Review Date : 15-Dec-2015
100% Malbec from Los Arboles, Uco Valley, vines over 15 y.o., hand-picked and fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 15 months in French and American oak. Very dark, black-hued purple-red colour with lighter ruby hues on the rim. The nose is stylishly restrained with fresh, vibrant and finely bound aromas of ripe blackberry and dark-red berry fruits interwoven with black plum, liquorice and black pepper notes. Aromatic and spicy oak unfolds in the glass. Medium-full bodied and well-proportioned, this has good intensity of sweetly ripe, spicy black and dark red berry fruits and plums, along with notes of liquorice and lifted oak. This has a finely concentrated core and supple tannin extraction lending a positive core and line. The mouthfeel is lively, vibrant and balanced with integrated acidity and some underlying alcoholic power that carries the wine to a long, sweet-fruited, spicy finish. This is an elegant Malbec with good intensity, vibrancy and supple structure. Match with Mediterranean cuisine, lamb and venison over the next 4+ years. 17.5/20 Dec 2015 RRP $20.99
