Totara Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 11-Jun-2013
Fruit predominantly from the Wairau plains along with Awatere and Waihopi valley grapes. 97% cool-fermented in stainless-steel with the remainder in large format oak to 13.0% alc. and 2.2 g/L rs. Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues. The bouquet has fruit aromas in the cooler spectrum, showing pungent grassy gooseberry notes with fresh herbs and steel, revealing secondary bean-like elements in the glass. Dry to taste and elegantly proportioned, the flavours are restrained, with straightforward green bean and gooseberry flavours. The palate has presence and the alcohol provides good drive. Crisp, near racy acidity adds to the energy and liveliness and with some fine textures the palate has linearity that carries the gooseberry and bean flavours to a light, slender finish. This is a light and brisk Sauvignon Blanc in the cooler spectrum, showing some secondary development. Serve with seafood, salads and vegetables, and goats cheese over the next 18 months. 15.5-/20 Jun 2013 RRP $19.95
