Tony Bish Fat & Sassy Chardonnay 2021, Hawke’s Bay

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 21-Apr-2022
Bright, even, pale straw-yellow with some depth. The nose is soft and open, a creamy veil laying over citrus, stonefruit, minerals and subtle oak expression. Medium-bodied, aromas of grapefruit, lemon curd, stonefruit entwined with roasted almond, citrus zest, enriched by a buttery tone. The wine has a curvy line revealing a creamy and a lush mouthfeel; lively acidity enlivened and lengthened the finish. Fine-textured phenolics contribute to a dusty, slightly chewy palate. This is a pleasing Chardonnay features citrus and stonefruit with harmonious nutty oak on a lush palate. Match with chicken and pork over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from 3 sites in the Bridge Pa Triangle, one-third fermented in large oak vat, one-third in barrique and one-third in tank, to 13.5% alc, the wine aged 9 months in barrel with batonnage and 100% MLF. 18.5-/20 pts (92 pts) Apr 2022 RRP $20.99
