Tony Bish ‘Fat n Sassy’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 15-Oct-2015
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, pale edged. This has a full and broad nose with rich, ripe tropical fruit aromas along with bold, creamy and nutty barrel-ferment layers, butterscotch MLF, and oak vanilla in a harmonious and complex amalgam. Medium-full bodied, upfront, bold and rich flavours of ripe citrus and tropical fruit fill the palate, unfolding waves of butterscotch, creamy and nutty oak and sweet vanilla notes. The wine has a well-concentrated and firm core and line, with bright, lively acidity balancing the smooth, near unctuous textures. The wine carries with freshness and lively tension to a long and sustained, nutty, buttery finish. This is a full and up-front, rich Chardonnay with ripe tropical fruit, buttery and creamy flavours and a fresh, firm line. Match with roast pork and veal over the next 3-4+ years. Fruit from the Dartmoor Valley, 50% barrel-fermented and 50% fermented in tank with staves, to 14.0% alc, the wine aged 12 months in 10% oak, undergoing batonnage and MLF, the barrel and tank components rotated so all of the wine had barrel time. 18.5-/20 Oct 2015 RRP $21.95
