Tono Hawke’s Bay Moscatel 2014

Muscat from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 06-Mar-2016
Bright, very pale straw colour, pale edged. The nose is lifted with aromatic herb and musk notes along with savoury detail from subtle development and wild yeast? Medium in sweetness, savoury grapey and musky fruit flavours are the feature on the palate. This has good depth and intensity and the mouthfeel is rich, plush and juicy, the wine smooth and soft in flow. The savoury flavours counter the sweetness and richness and the wine is carried with good drive to a soft, lingering finish. This has some bottle age character appearing. Second crop fruit from the home vineyard, hand-picked, WBP and fermented to 9.5% alc. and 30 g/L RS. 16.5+/20 Mar 2016 RRP $20.00 Bright pale stra-yellow colour with slight green hues. This has a fresh and tightly bound nose with good depth and intensity of exotic musky perfumes, herbs, grapes and tea leaves that unfold, building in volume, revealing wax and honied nuances. Medium-sweet and light bodied, fresh and aromatic fruit flavours of musk, grapes and herbs form a sweet and savoury core. The wine is moderately rich and luscious, the sweetness balanced by a fine-textured phenolic line and lively, lacy acidity. The wine flows with good energy and underlying drive, carrying to a long, gently luscious musky finish. This is a fresh, light, gently luscious, medium-sweet Moscatel with musk and herb flavours. Serve as an aperitif and with fresh fruit over the next 18 months to 2 years. Second crop fruit from the home vineyard, hand-picked, WBP and fermented to 9.5% alc. and 30 g/L RS. 17.0/20 Mar 2015 RRP $20.00
