Tono Hawke’s Bay Albarino 2015

Other White from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 06-Mar-2016
Pale straw-yellow colour. The nose is fresh and lively with aromas of exotic florals limes and citrus fruits and a layering of musk. The nose is bright with soft depth and building intensity. Dryish to taste, the palate is bright with vibrant flavours of soft, white florals and white stonefruits, unfolding citrus fruit detail, exotic tropical fruits and musk. The mouthfeel is refreshing with crisp underlying acidity and a very fine-textured line which carries to a sustained finish. This has very good varietal expression and clarity, with freshness and softness. This is drinking very well now. Hand-picked fruit from the home ‘Craft Farm’ vineyard, Havelock North, WBP and fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 4.0 g/L RS. 17.5+/20 Mar 2016 RRP $25.00 Bright, pale straw-yellow, near colourless on edge. This has a fine, fresh and tightly bound nose of exotic white florals, white stonefruits and citrus fruits, unfolding saline elements, honeysuckle, herb and mineral nuances. The aromatics are intense and lifted. Dry to taste and medium bodied, elegantly concentrated flavours of exotic white florals, lime, honeysuckle and musk form a rounded, smooth-textured core. Nuances of herbs and minerals add detail. The wine flows smoothly with a suggestion of unctuousness balanced by a very fine, phenolic line and subtle, lacy acidity. The wine flows with good drive to a long, soft-textured finish with floral and musk notes. This is an elegantly concentrated, dry Albarino with exotic white floral flavours and a smooth-flowing mouthfeel. Serve with seafood, poultry and Pacific Rim fare over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked fruit from the home ‘Craft Farm’ vineyard, Havelock North, WBP and fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 4.0 g/L RS. 17.5/20 Oct 2015 RRP $25.00
