Tongue in Groove Waipara Valley Riesling 2013

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 09-Apr-2015
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with lemon-gold hues. The nose is full and lively with bright fruit aromas of jasmine, exotic yellow florals and honeysuckle, along with layers of limes, marmalade, minerals and toast. This has freshness and intensity. Medium in sweetness, the fruit flavours of citrus fruits, yellow florals, honey and toast are rich and concentrated forming a luscious core and very fine-textured line. The mouthfeel is lively with excellent acidity and energy, and the wine flows with plenty of drive, carrying to a very long and sustained finish of honey and exotic florals. This is a fresh, lively, exotic medium Riesling with concentration and richness. Serve with Asian cuisine over the next 5-6 years. Fruit from ‘The Mound’ and ‘Bedford’ vineyards with 5% botrytis infection, given some skin contact and cool-fermented in stainless-steel t0 13.0% alc. and 16 g/L RS, TA 7.3 g/L and pH 3.2, the wine aged on lees 4-5 months. 18.5+/20 Apr 2015 RRP $28.00
