Tohu ‘Single Vineyard’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 13-Dec-2012
Fruit from Tohu's Awatere Valley vineyard cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.5% alc. and 3.3 g/L rs. Brilliant, very pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, near colourless on rim. The nose is full and voluminous with intensely fresh, pungent passionfruit aromas lifted with notes of limes, florals and esters. Dry to taste, this is softly full with good weight and presence on palate. The passionfruity fruit is initially a little restrained in expression, but builds with breadth, becoming mouthfilling, with lifted esters and piquant herb and gooseberry notes adding interest. The mouthfeel is smooth and combines a slippery unctuousness, the acidity quite soft and lacy, carrying the flavours to a dry, lingering finish. This is a soft-textured, mouthfilling Sauvignon Blanc with stylish passionfruit flavours. Match with poultry, salads and vegetables over the next 2+ years. 18.0+/20 Dec 2012 RRP $19.95
