Tohu ‘Single Vineyard’ Marlborough Riesling 2012

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 13-Dec-2012
Fruit from Tohu's Awatere Valley vineyard cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.0% alc. and 4.4 g/L rs with 9.7 g/L TA and a pH 2.91. Brilliant pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale on rim. The bouquet is very tightly bound, shy and unyielding, showing pure and subtle white floral, lime and mineral aromas. Very dry to taste, delicate flavours of limes, minerals and florals sit on a tight, austere palate. The purity and very fine textures are expressed with excellent linear drive, with refined acidity adding to the energy. Slender in proportion, the fruit flows effortlessly to a dry, mineral and limey finish. This is an exceptionally refined, dry Riesling that cries out for bottle-age. It will grow in interest and merit considerably higher ratings as it develops over the next 6-8 years. Serve as an aperitif or with fine Asian fare. My score as it shows now is 17.5/20 Dec 2012 RRP $21.95
