Tohu ‘Single Vineyard’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 29-Sep-2014
Moderately deep, dark ruby-red colour with purple hues, youthful in appearance. The nose is softly full with deep aromas of bright, ripe, dark raspberry fruit, along with dark herbs and balanced oak notes, the nose unfolding spices, floral perfumes and elements of raspberry liqueur and whole berry fermentation confectionary hints. Medium-bodied, sweetly rich and lively, juicy flavours of dark raspberries are enhanced by fresh acidity. The fruit is supported by supple, fine-grained tannins which allow the succulent fruit flavours to feature. The wine carries through to a bright, fresh and lively finish with lacy acidity and sweet fruit. This is an up-front, bright, raspberry fruited Pinot Noir with suppleness and freshness. Serve with poultry, pork and lamb over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked fruit from the company’s Upper Awatere Valley vineyard, destemmed and given a cold soak, fermented with a small portion by indigenous yeasts to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 11 months in oak. 18.0/20 Sep 2014 RRP $27.95
