Tohu ‘Single Vineyard’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2010

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 16-Dec-2011
Light ruby-red colour with some purple hues, pale on edge. The nose shows fresh and pure raspberry and cherry fruit aromatics with good ripeness, lifted with red floral notes, developing some ethereal perfumes in the glass. Medium-bodied, this is an elegant wine with tightly bound fruit flavours of raspberries and cherries, along with herb and spice elements as well as red florals. The fruit is clean and expressed with clarity, and framed by a moderately extracted palate, the tannins soft and supple, allowing the fruitiness to feature. This is an attractive and accessible, fruit-driven Pinot Noir to serve with salmon, tuna and Asian cuisine over the next 3-4+ years. Clones 115, 5, 667, 777 and Abel from 10 y.o. vines from the ‘Moana' and ‘Araroa' blocks in the ‘company's Awatere Valley vineyard, the fruit destemmed and given a 7 day cold soak and fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine then aged in barrel. 17.0+/20 Dec 2011 RRP $27.95
