Tohu ‘Raiha Reserve’ ‘Limited Release’ Marlborough Noble Riesling 2013

Sweet Wine from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 22-Jun-2014
Bright straw-yellow colour with light green hues, lighter on edge. This has a full and densely concentrated nose of ripe citrus and tropical fruits interwoven with waves of complexing and funky, savoury marmalade, honey and talc botrytis detail. Very sweet with a softly concentrated and densely packed palate, the flavours of opulently ripe citrus fruits, apricots, marmalade, honey and complex savoury musk form a tight amalgam. The palate core has depth and fruit weight, and is carried by a very fine and soft, textural thread with balanced, discreet acidity providing underlying tension. The flavours flow to a rounded, smooth, concentrated and very long, lingering finish. This is a concentrated and weighty, complex-flavoured, opulent dessert Riesling to serve with fruit desserts and crème caramel over the next 4-5+ years. Hand-picked fruit with bunches of varying degrees of botrytis infection from the company’s Awatere vineyard, WBP, fermented to 10% alc. and 175 g/L RS. (375 ml) 18.5+/20 Jun 2014 RRP $27.95
