Tohu Nelson Pinot Gris 2010

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 14-Feb-2011
This is a textbook example of this variety. Pale edged straw yellow in colour, the bouquet is classic with its pure, uncomplicated, pear and stonefruit aromas. Dry on palate with only 2.5 g/L rs, the softly rich, honied pear and yellow stonefruit flavours show a lusciousness from full ripeness. The wine has good body and presence, sitting at 14.0% alc., and only the barest suggestion of heat is detectable. The textures are fine and add to the depth of flavour. Some fermentation was carried out in old French oak, and there was lees stirring, but this work is very subtle. The wine is completed with sufficient acidity for a fresh finish. Made from fruit from Tohu's vineyard in the Upper Moutere. Drink over the next 2-4 years. 17.5+/20 Dec 2010 RRP $21.95
