Bright, very pale straw with green hues, near colourless. The nose is soft and fresh with light and pure aromas of gooseberries and passionfruit in a soft amalgam of tropical fruits with some chalky mineral element. Dry to taste and light-bodied, the palate is bright and refreshingly racy with up-front fruit flavours of gooseberries, cut grass and passionfruit. The acidity lends a brisk, slippery flow to the mouthfeel, with some light, drying phenolics emerging from the palate line. The wine carries to a slender, textured finish with soft acidity and good length. This is a clean and pure, up-front, refreshingly light Sauvignon Blanc with slippery acid and light, dry textures. Serve as an aperitif and with seafood over the next 2 years. Fruit from the Wairau Valley cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 10.0% alc. and 5.7 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. 17.0/20 Nov 2015 RRP $19.95
