Fruit from the ‘Puketapu’, ‘Arapoto’ and ‘Kouka’ blocks in the company’s Upper Awatere Valley vineyard, indigenous yeast fermented in seasoned French oak barriques to 13.0% alc., the wine undergoing batonnage. Bright straw-yellow colour with some green hues, lighter edged. The bouquet is elegantly expressed with fine and intense aromas of green stonefruits, tropical fruits, herbs, smoke and oak that reveals greater detail and interest with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features rich and luscious fruit flavours of greengages and nectarines interwoven with tropical fruit, herbs and oak toast , forming a concentrated and complex core. The mouthfeel is refined, becoming dry-textured, balancing the fruitiness, and the wine flows with good drive leading to a long, lingering finish with smoky oak nuances. This is an elegant, complex detailed, oak-influenced Sauvignon Blanc that will grow in richness and breadth over the next 3+ years.
