Tohu Gisborne Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Gisborn
Review Date : 10-Nov-2015
Gisborne fruit fermented in French oak barriques and stainless-steel tanks to 13.5% alc., the wine undergoing batonnage and 100% MLF. Bright, light straw-yellow colour with green-gold hues. This has a clean, fresh and pure nose of stonefruits, citrus fruits and melons, quite uncomplicated, but growing in volume in the glass. Medium-bodied, the palate is up-front with bright flavours of citrus and stonefruits, ripe melons, and an amalgam of creamy barrel-ferment, oak and MLF nuances. The fruit is underlined by fine phenolic textures, and some alcohol power emerges to provide drive. Stonefruit and nutty oak elements prevail and are carried to a dry, fulsome, lingering finish. This is an up-front, ripe-fruited Chardonnay with subtle creamy oak, alcohol power and a dry finish. Match with poultry and pork over the next 2-3 years. 16.5+/20 Nov 2015 RRP $21.95
