Tohu Awatere Valley Marlborough Pinot Noir 2017

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 29-Sep-2018
Even ruby-red colour, lighter on the rim with slight purple hues. The nose is elegant and tightly bound with penetrating aromas of dark-red cherry and berry fruit, hints of raspberries, red liquorice unfoldinf red florals, dark herbs and a little minerally reduction. Medium-bodied the palate has a fresh and moderately firm, and concentrated core of bright and vibrant dark-red cherry and berry fruit, with hints of raspberries and dark herbs. The fruit is supported by light, grainy tannin structure with fresh acidity providing plenty of energy and tension. A little minerally reduction shows. The wine carries to a lingering, taut and firm finish of cherries. This is a fresh, finely concentrated Pinot Noir with bright cherry fruit with some dark herbs and a little reduction, with fine palate grip and fresh acidity. Match with poultry and pork over the next 3+ years. Hand-picked fruit from the Awatere Valley, destemmed and fermented, partially by indigenous yeasts to 12.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in new and seasoned French oak barriques. 17.0+/20 Oct 2018 RRP $25.00
