Tohu Awatere Valley Marlborough Pinot Noir 2015

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 19-Dec-2016
Dark, even ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues. The nose is full, up-front and firmly packed with bold aromas of dark raspberry fruit along with dark-red plums entwined with subtle notes of dark herbs, unfolding raspberry liqueur elements and a little spicy oak. Medium-full bodied, the palate possesses bright and juicy, near-fleshy fruit flavours of dark raspberries, plums and dark herbs. Red liquorice and raspberry liqueur elements, and dark-red florals emerge. The rich fruit is enlivened by fresh acidity and the fruit supported by fine-grained, supple tannin extraction providing accessibility as well as subtle structure and grip. The flavours carry to a vibrant, luscious finish of dark berries and plums. This is a juicy and succulent, fleshy, dark-raspberry fruited Pinot Noir with supple structure and bright, enlivening acidity. Match with pork, lamb, beef and venison dishes over the next 4-5 years. Hand-picked fruit from the company’s Awatere vineyard, destemmed and partially indigenous yeast fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged in new and seasoned French oak barriques. 18.5/20 Dec 2016 RRP $27.95
