Tironui Estate Hawke’s Bay Merlot 2015

Merlot from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 15-Sep-2017
Even, dark ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim. The nose finely concentrated with aromas of redcurrant and red berry fruit along with notes of fresh herbs and blackcurrant leaf. The fruit is in the cooler spectrum. Medium-full bodied, the palate has a softly packed heart with flavours of redcurrants and blackcurrants along with fresh herb and blackcurrant leaf. The palate is moderately extracted lending grainy tannin structure, and is enlivened by brisk acidity. The flavours carry with some drive, but recede on the light, herb-nuanced finish. This is a fresh and brisk, cooler-spectrum Merlot with curranty and herbal fruit on a grainy-textured palate. Serve with herb-marinated red meats and Mediterranean fare over the next 3+ years. 100% Merlot from the ‘Tironui’ vineyard, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in seasoned oak. 70 dozen made. 16.0+/20 Sept 2017 RRP $25.00
