Tinpot Hut Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2011

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 14-Mar-2012
Fruit from the Blind River sub-region of the Awatere, supplemented with Lower Wairau Valley grapes, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.2% alc. and 3.5 g/L rs. Bright, very pale straw colour with some green hues. The bouquet is very fine and tightly bound with pungent passionfruit aromas along with notes of blackcurrant leaf, all in the cooler spectrum. Dry to taste, this is a tight and slender wine, with a near-austere, mineral infused, pungent passionfruit flavour, driven by penetrating acidity. There is a light phenolic textural thread along the line that carries through to a very long, lingering finish which shows sweet passionfruit notes. This dry and driven wine speaks of the Awatere Valley. Serve with shellfish over the next 2-3 years. 17.5/20 Mar 2012 RRP $21.95
