Made from Blind River Awatere fruit supplemented with parcels from the Lower Wairau, cool-fermented to 13.3% alc. and 3.5 g/L rs. This has a brilliant, pale-edged straw-yellow colour and a fresh, raw, cooler-spectrum nose of English gooseberries, fresh herbs and nettles, quite tight and leanish in expression. Dry to taste, this has cool, sappy flavours with an attractive slippery, acidic mouthfeel with some depth and fullness. Very much an Awatere style, the racy acidity is pronounced on the back palate and bracing, making it an ideal wine to serve with shellfish over the next 2+ years. 16.0/20 Mar 2011 RRP $21.00
