Tinpot Hut Marlborough Pinot Noir 2011

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 05-Oct-2012
Bright, even ruby-red with youthful purple hues, light on rim. The nose is elegant with fresh, dark raspberry fruit aromas underlined by some dark herb, earth and mineral notes. Floral perfumes, raspberry confectionary and a little char-like reduction adds interest. Medium-full bodied, the palate has concentrated dark raspberry fruit flavours forming a good core, supported by finely extracted tannins. The fruit is somewhat reserved, with the tannins and lacy acidity featuring. However, the finish grows to show attractively lush raspberry essence flavours. This is an elegant, restrained Pinot Noir with good textures. Match with poultry and pork dishes over the next 4-5+ years. Pinot Noir fruit from sites in the Upper Wairau and Blind River regions destemmed and given a cold soak, then fermented to 13.2% alc., a portion then aged in new and seasoned French oak barrels. 17.5-/20 Oct 2012 RRP $24.95
