Tiki ‘Single Vineyard’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 05-Oct-2016
Even ruby-red colour with garnet hues, a little lighter on the rim. The bouquet is rich and full with a softly packed core of savoury dark-red berry fruits and plums with complexing secondary layers of dried herbs, game, earth and mushrooms that unfold in waves. Medium-bodied, the palate is finely proportioned with a moderately concentrated, rounded heart of savoury dark-red berry and plum fruit melded with notes of dried herbs, game and earth. The palate is rich and succulent and balanced by light, grainy tannin extraction and soft, mellow acidity. The wine flows smoothly to a soft, lingering finish with light flavours of plums, strawberries, earth and dried herbs. This is an elegant Pinot Noir with succulent savoury red fruits complexed by secondary dried herb, earth and mushroom notes, on a light, structured palate. It has grown in richness over the last 18 months. Serve with coq au vin and casseroles, and mushroom dishes over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the ‘Rewa’ vineyard, Upper Wairau Valley, destemmed and fermented with a portion of whole berries to 12.6% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 30% new French oak. 17.5-/20 Oct 2016 RRP $23.99 Even ruby-red colour with lighter garnet hues on edge. The nose is light and elegantly bound with ethereal aromas of soft red berry fruits intermixed with layers of Middle Eastern spices, savoury herbs and cedary oak. Medium-bodied and elegantly presented, a finely concentrated core of savoury red berry fruits infused with spices and cedary oak is the feature on palate. The fruit is supported by fine-grained tannin structure lending some firmness. Fresh, lacy acidity enlivens the mouthfeel, and the wine flows with good energy to a very long, lingering dry finish. This is an elegantly concentrated Pinot Noir with spicy, cedary oak and a firm, fine-textured, lively line. Match with duck, lamb and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 4 years. Fruit from the ‘Rewa’ vineyard, Upper Wairau Valley, destemmed and fermented with a portion of whole berries to 12.6% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 30% new French oak. 16.5+/20 Mar 2015 RRP $24.95
