Bright, moderately deep straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues, lighter edged. The nose is softly packed with deep, dense and concentrated aromas of yellow stonefruits and citrus fruits harmoniously melded with creamy barrel-ferment elements and rich, nutty oak and soft lemon-curd and butterscotch MLF notes at the core. Medium-full bodied, the palate has bold and up-front flavours of citrus fruit and yellow stonefruits melded with creamy barrel-ferment notes and nutty oak, and a layering of lemon-curd and butterscotch MLF. This has good depth and intensity, the flavours mouthfilling, flowing along a fine-textured line with light, lacy acidity. The palate carries to a rich, dense finish. This is a fulsome, broad and deeply flavoured Chardonnay with citrus and stonefruit, nutty and spicy oak, and buttery MLF on a fine-textured, lively palate. Match with roast poultry and pork over the next 4 years. Mendoza clone fruit from Hawke’s Bay, fermented to 14.25% alc., the wine aged on lees in barrel with 100% MLF. 17.5+/20 Dec 2017 RRP $24.00
