Tiki Estate Waipara Pinot Gris 2011

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 10-Dec-2011
Pinot Gris from the ‘Waiata' vineyard, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 6.16 g/L rs. Bright pale straw-yellow colour with a pale rim, this has a very elegant, but intense nose of spicy pears and stonefruits, lifted by floral esters. The aromatics are pure and possess a steeliness and cut. Off-dry to taste, the palate has fresh fruit flavours of spicy pears with florals, all well-concentrated with density and a core which drives the palate. Round and smooth textured with a near-oily unctuousness, good acidity enlivens the mouthfeel and carries the moderately long finish showing pears and a touch of honey. A classical Pinot Gris with good depth. Match with Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese cuisine over the next 3-4 years. 17.5+/20 Dec 2011 RRP $19.95
