Thornbury Waipara Riesling 2012

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 09-Mar-2014
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, light on rim. The bouquet is very soft and gently presented with finely interwoven layers of citrus fruit, white florals, honey, minerals and toast, all in detail and nuance. While showing the beginnings of secondary development, the nose is fresh and steely. Medium-dry, the palate features a solid core with layers of citrus and florals, honey and toast. The flavours flow along a soft and finely-textured line with restrained, soft acidity. This has an integrated and mellow mouthfeel, yet the wine remains mouthwatering in freshness. The flavours build in depth and minerally interest, finishing dry. This is a subtle layered and textured off-dry Riesling that is developing complex nuances. Serve as an aperitif over the next 3-4 years. Waipara fruit cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 11.5% alc. and 8.1 g/L RS, with TA 11.6 g/L and pH 3.15. 18.5-/20 Mar 2014 RRP $17.00
