Thornbury Waipara Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 03-Dec-2014
Waipara fruit cool-fermented in tank with a small portion in seasoned French oak to 13.0% alc. and 6.2 g/L RS, the wine undergoing batonnage. Full, even, light straw-yellow colour, lighter on rim. This has a gently full nose with soft aromas of yellow florals and savoury stonefruit kernels, along with honeysuckle and minerally elements, building in depth, unfolding lifted florals with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, yellow stonefruit and honied flavours gently fill the mouth, forming a good heart and core. This has good fruit extract and fine grainy textures providing presence and depth. Soft acidity enhanced the depth and roundness, and the wine leads to a full, moderately long finish. This is a soft, dry and gently textured Pinot Gris with stonefruit and honeysuckle flavours. Serve with most white meat courses over the next 3+ years. 17.5+/20 Dec 2014 RRP $14.99
