Thornbury Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2013

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 09-Mar-2014
Bright pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, paler on rim. This has an elegant, but full nose, packed with aromas of gooseberry and nettly fruit melded with chalky minerals, along with fresh herbs, in the Awatere style. Dry to taste and medium-bodied with good palate presence, fruit flavours of nettles, gooseberries and herbs sit alongside minerals, forming a concentrated core, and follow a chalky-textured line. The mouthfeel is zesty and refreshing from racy acidity which along with the fruit extract carries the flavours to a full, dry, lingering finish. This is a dry, textural Sauvignon Blanc with gooseberry fruit and chalky mineral notes. Serve with seafood and herb-marinated poultry over the next 2+ years. Fruit from the Wairau and Awatere valleys, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 4.59 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. 17.5+/20 Mar 2014 RRP $17.00
