Thorn-Clarke ‘Sandpiper’ Eden Valley Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 18-Nov-2015
‘Mount Crawford’ Eden Valley fruit given some skin contact and fermented to 12.5% alc. Bright, very pale straw-yellow colour with a suggestion of blush, near colourless on the rim. The nose is very fresh and tightly bound with aromas of white stonefruits along with subtle flinty, nutty and mineral nuances. This has purity and intensity, unfolding white floral elements in the glass. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, bright and juicy, sweetly luscious flavours of white stonefruits are enlivened by refreshing, lacy acidity. The palate sweetness is balanced by fine, grainy phenolics and grip which forms a textured mouthfeel, providing good presence. The acidity has good drive and carries the wine to a firm, slender finish with dry textures and zestiness. This is a crisp, lively, dry Pinot Gris with sweet white stonefruit flavours and some phenolic presence. Match with seafood and antipasto over the next 2+ years. 16.5+/20 Nov 2015 RRP AUS$19.00
