Thistle Ridge Waipara Riesling 2013

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 14-Jan-2014
Bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, paler on edge. The nose is very fresh with intense aromas of lime and lemony fruit, lifted by esters and honeysuckle notes, with complex nuances of herbs, flinty minerals and exotic jasmine and musk elements. Medium-sweet to taste, lifted jasmine and honied flavours are intermixed with the floral and citrus fruit core. The palate is strong and bold, featuring considerable alcohol drive and underlying phenolic textures that carry the fruit. Intriguing herb, floral and musky nuances show with good, refreshing acidity, and the wine is up-front and immediately rich. The palate becomes lighter and drier as it flows, finishing with restrained floral and musky nuances. This is a rich and aromatic medium Riesling with power and a dry finish. Serve with mildly spicy Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 3-4 years. Estate fruit cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 25.7 g/L RS. 16.5+/20 Jan 2014 RRP $18.99
