Thistle Ridge Waipara Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 23-Apr-2015
Bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hues at heart, lighter edged. The nose is fresh and bright, with open aromas of citrus fruit and yellow stonefruits, along with nutty oak, and creamy barrel-ferment and lemon-curd MLF suggestions in a harmonious amalgam. Medium-full bodied, the palate is fresh and racy with elevated acidity enlivening the citrus fruit succulence. Yellow stonefruits and tropical fruit elements are present, lending some richness and a little creaminess to the mouthfeel. The wine follows a tight steely, minerally core and line, which leads to a fine-textured, crisp, dry, mouthwatering finish. This is a tight, bright and racy, citrussy Chardonnay with steely, minerally flow.. Match with seafood and creamy sauce white meat dishes over the next 3 years. Fruit from the ‘Muddy Water’ and ‘Greystone’ sites, indigenous yeast barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in seasoned French barriques and puncheons on lees without batonnage, but undergoing 100% MLF. 16.5+/20 Apr 2015 RRP $22.00
