Bright, full, light golden yellow colour, lighter on edge. The nose is full and broad, with up-front and solid aromas of ripe tropical fruits and savoury citrus fruits entwined with creamy, nutty barrel-ferment notes, spicy, toasty oak and butterscotch MLF. The aromas unfold in waves revealing the packed layers. Full-bodied, this is broad, bold and up-front with flavours of ripe citrus and tropical fruit flavours bolstered by nutty, toasty oak and layers of butterscotch MLF. The mouthfeel is soft and broad with rounded textures and a fine textured thread guiding the wine. Soft acidity enhances the richness and allows the underlying alcoholic power to emerge and carry the wine to a full, rich, lush finish of toast and butterscotch. This is a full and broad flavoured Chardonnay with ripe tropical fruit and toasty, buttery richness. Serve with roast pork over the next 3-4 years. Mendoza, clone 15 and 95 fruit from the Ormond Valley, viticulture to the care of Bryce Mackenzie, hand-picked, WBP, and barrel-fermented, partially with indigenous yeasts to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 13 months in 33% new French oak with 100% MLF. 18.0/20 Dec 2015 RRP $21.95
