Theory & Practice Chardonnay 2020, Hawke’s Bay

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 28-Sep-2021
Bright, pale yellow colour with depth, even colour throughout. The nose is gently full and inviting, nuances of ripe peach, nectarine melded with creamy meringue and a hint of nut. Medium-full bodied, filled with succulent ripe peach and nectarine and a touch of banana, caramel, and spices enriched the palate and lingered to a slightly nutty finish. The wine possesses ripe fruit and richness of barrel detail; caramel popcorn nuance opened up as the wine aerated, added interest. This is a generous Chardonnay style with ripe fruit, caramel and oak spice details. Match with chicken satay and grilled fish over the next 2-3 years. Barrel-fermented and aged in barrel, 13.5% alc. 17.5/20 pts (88 pts) Sept 2021 RRP $24
