The Supernatural Hawke’s Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 22-Nov-2015
Full, light golden-yellow colour with some depth. This has a full, broad and open nose with good depth,, volume and presence, showing ripe green stonefruit, gooseberry, herb, stalk and leaf notes and subtle layers of lantana and tropical fruits. The aromatics build in fruit richness and depth, revealing suggestions of nutty, oxidative complexities. Dry to taste and fullish-bodied, this has a fulsome core of concentrated green stonefruit, gooseberry and herbal flavours, intermixed with stem, stalk and leaf nuances. The flavours are up-front and mouthfilling, the palate carried by some alcoholic power. This has a firmness to the grainy phenolic textures, with integrated acidity lending drive, carrying the wine to a long, sweet finish with nuances of herbs and bitter stonefruits. This is a full, flavoursome and weighty Sauvignon Blanc with a solid, grainy core and concentrated green stonefruit and herb flavours. Match with herb-marinated poultry and pork dishes over the next 3+ years. Organically grown fruit from a north-facing hillside vineyard, given 6 hours on Skins and indigenous yeast cool-fermented in tank to 14.3% alc. and 3.2 g/L RS, the wine aged 6 months on lees with batonnage. Bottled with minimal sulphur. 4,000 dozen made. 17.5/20 Nov 2015 RRP $30.00
