The Pruner’s Reward Waipara Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2011

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 12-Sep-2012
Bright straw-yellow colour, pale on rim. The nose is fresh with good deep aromas of gooseberries and grass, along with minerally notes. Dryish to taste, this is crisp and racy with the acidity enlivening and enriching the gooseberry fruit flavours. Some floral notes add an aromatic lift. The acidity along with a little textural thread carry the flavours to a zesty, but dry finish. This is a crisp, racy and dry Sauvignon with gooseberry and minerally flavours. Match with seafood, vegetables and salads over the next 2 years. Fruit from the ‘Home' block along with some contract fruit totally stainless-steel fermented to 13.5% alc. and 4.1 g/L rs. 16.5-/20 Sep 2012 RRP $21.00 Fruit mainly from the ‘Home Block' supplemented with a contract grower's fruit, tank-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 4.1 g/L rs. Very pale straw-yellow colour with a pale edge, this has a softly fresh nose with a lifted amalgam of pungent passionfruit and gooseberry aromas that are lightly nuanced with a confectionary note. Dry to taste, this has up-front, moderately deep, clearly varietal passionfruit and gooseberry flavours alongside balanced, crisp and racy acidity. The finish is sustained and shows sweetness of fruit. Drink this brisk wine with seafood, salads and vegetables over the next 2 years. 16.0+/20 Sep 2011 RRP $21.00
