The Pruner’s Reward Waipara Valley Pinot Noir 2010

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 12-Sep-2012
100% Waipara Valley fruit, hand-picked fermented to 15.0% alc., the wine spending approx. 3 weeks on skins and aged 14 months in around 20% new French oak barriques. Ruby-red colour with good depth, a touch of garnet on rim. The nose is deep and firm with fresh dark raspberry fruit and some dark herbs underlying, clean and clearly presented. Medium-full bodied, sweet, bright red berry fruits feature with some herbal interest, the oaking very much in balance. The mouthfeel has some generosity with some alcohol driving the palate. Texturally fine and restrained with supple tannins and good acidity, the fruit sweetness lingers on the finish. This is a bright and sweet fruited Pinot Noir with some alcohol drive and a supple approachability. Serve with poultry and pork dishes over the next 4-5 years. 17.0/20 Sep 2012 RRP $27.00
