The Ned Southern Valleys Marlborough Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 10-Sep-2013
Fruit from the ‘Ben Morven’ vineyard fully destemmed, given a cold soak and fermented with a high proportion of whole berries to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 9 months in French oak puncheons. Dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. The nose is soft, full and solid with deep aromas of ripe dark raspberry fruits and plums, along with subtle dark herb and stalk notes and oak spices, all integrated and harmoniously presented. Medium-full bodied, the flavours are a little subdued, but grow to show rich and succulent dark berry and plum notes, complexed by oak spices. This has good weight, the mouthfeel soft and rounded, and the acidity a little low, but with supple underlying tannins for drive. The flavours flow with balance and harmony to a moderately long plum and floral lifted finish. This is a soft and full, balanced and integrated Pinot Noir with dark fruit flavours. Serve with pork, beef and lamb over the next 4-5 years. 17.5+/20 Sep 2013 RRP $24.99
