The Ned Marlbrorough Pinot Gris 2013

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 10-Sep-2013
Very pale pink colour with pale straw hues. The bouquet is up-front and full, with bright white and yellow florals lifted with esters and showing a suggestion of honeysuckle and red berry fruits. Off-dry to taste and medium-full bodied, youthfully fresh and bold flavours of pears, stonefruits and red berry fruits are encased by phenolic textures and structure. The acidity is brisk and some alcohol warmth is apparent. The palate is still raw and unsettled, somewhat robust, but has good power and drive leading to a strong fruity finish. This has the componenty and potential to come together well. This is a fresh, youthfully robust dry Pinot Gris that needs time to settle. Match with most white meat dishes over the next 3-4 years. Pinot Gris fruit cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 4.8 g/L RS. 17.0/20 Sep 2013 RRP $19.99
