The Natural Wine Co. Gisborne Gewurztraminer 2015

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Gisborn
Review Date : 02-Feb-2016
Full, even, straw-yellow colour with golden hues. This has a full and broad nose with aromas of root ginger entwined with exotic florals, spices and musk, and some minerally reductive elements. Medium in sweetness and medium-full bodied, the palate possesses soft and luscious flavours of yellow stonefruits, root ginger, spices and musk, along with creaming soda elements and minerally reduction. The mouthfeel is soft and near unctuous, with low acidity contributing to the rounded, mellow core. The wine flows gently to a moderately sustained finish spices and bitter varietal musk notes. This is a soft, rich and near-unctuous medium Gewurztraminer with root ginger and musk flavours along with minerally reduction notes. Serve with Middle Eastern and Asian fare over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the ‘Valley’ vineyard, vines over 35 y.o., partly indigenous yeast fermented to 13.5% alc. and 12 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. Certified AsureQuality organic. 16.5/20 Feb 2016 RRP $19.95
