The Luminary Martinborough Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 15-Apr-2016
Full, moderately dark ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the edge. The nose is firm and well-packed with aromas of dark red berry fruit in an amalgam with earthy plums and dark herbs, unfolding floral and spice notes. This has depth and a solid density to the aromatics. Medium-full bodied, the mouthfeel is full and fleshy with a deep and solid presence. The fruit flavours of dark plums and dark red berry fruits are a little restrained, but open out to reveal herb and earthy elements, with spicy, toasty oak. The fruit is guided by light grainy extraction and structure, and fresh acidity emerges to carry the wine to a positive finish. This is a full, weighty and fleshy Pinot Noir with fleshy plum, earth and spicy flavours. Match with grilled and roasted red meat dishes over the next 4+ years. Fruit from the ‘East Base’ ‘Wharekauhau’ and ‘Clouston’ vineyards, indigenous yeast fermented with 21% whole clusters to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 11 months in French oak, approx. 25% new. 17.0+/20 Nov 2015 RRP $22.49
