The Luminary Martinborough Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 10-Apr-2014
Full, deep, dark ruby-red colour, paler on edge. This has an elegantly firm and concentrated bouquet of dark red berry fruit and savoury black cherries entwined with fresh, dark herbal notes, liquorice and mineral elements providing complexing interest. Medium-bodied, the palate features an up-front core that unfolds sweet and rich dark berry fruit flavours. Savoury dried herb, pepper and nutty nuances add detail as the flavours blossom. The fruit is supported by fine-grained tannins and balanced acidity, which leads to a light, dry, textured finish. This is a flavoursome, savoury-fruit Pinot Noir with complexing interest and a fine-textured mouthfeel. Match with wild duck, pork and mushroom dishes over the next 4+ years. Predominantly estate fruit, fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in barrel with a small portion new. 17.5+/20 Apr 2014 RRP $22.49
