The Luminary Martinborough Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 11-Feb-2016
Bright, pale straw colour with slight green hues and a suggestion of blush. The nose is refreshing and steely with aromas of stonefruits and tropical fruits and hints of lantana and herbs, along with nuances of spice, florals and honeysuckle, showing good intensity. Dryish to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is crisp and lively with a core of yellow stonefruits entwined with tropical fruits, and honeysuckle and nutty notes. The wine follows a fine, grainy phenolic line with bright, lacy acidity enlivening the mouthfeel. This has good linearity which carries to a sustained, soft-textured finish with succulent yellow stonefruit flavours. This is a crisp, refreshing, fine-textured off-dry Pinot Gris with yellow stonefruit and honeysuckle flavours. Match with Asian cuisine over the next 3 years. Fruit from the company’s ‘East Base’ vineyard, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.5% alc. and 6.2 g/L RS, the wine aged 5 months on lees. 17.0+/20 Feb 2016 RRP $16.99
