The Lazy Dog Queensberry Central Otago Chenin Blanc 2012

Chenin Blanc from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 01-May-2013
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour, lighter on rim. The bouquet is refreshing and lively with aromas of white florals and stonefruits intermingling with herb and tropical fruit nuances. A little free sulphur dissipates with time in glass. Medium-dry and medium-bodied, crisp and bracing acidity enlivens and brightens the light but positive fruit flavours of white stonefruits, herbs and exotic florals. The mouthfeel is racy and the palate has a steely, linear, finely textured line, but is enriched by some fruit sweetness and the residual sugar. The energy and acid drive carry the flavours to a firm, dry and slightly flinty finish. This is a crisp and refreshing Chenin Blanc with light and clear-cut varietal flavours. Serve with seafood, creamy poultry dishes and soft cheeses over the next 2-3 years. Chenin Blanc from Queensberry, from vines 4 y.o., hand-picked and basket pressed and cool-fermented with 40% in neutral oak to 13.0% alc. and 12 g/L rs, the wine undergoing partial MLF. 110 cases made. 16.0+/20 May 2013 RRP $23.00
