The Hunting Lodge Marlborough Pinot Gris 2018

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 22-Jan-2019
Full, light golden-yellow colour with some depth, a little paler on the rim. The nose is elegantly presented with a fine, taut core of white stonefruits, subtle notes of nuts with hints of minerals. This has a delicate white floral lift adding to the interest. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate has restrained flavours of white stonefruits along with hints of nuts and minerals, unfolding subtle floral elements. The palate has good vinous presence and a rounded mouthfeel with a positive core, and fine textures, along with balanced and integrated acidity. Though light in expression, the fruit weight carries to a long finish. This dry Pinot Gris is restrained in fruit expression showing subtle stonefruit, nuts and minerals, on a palate with weight and very good mouthfeel. Serve with poultry, pork and veal dishes over the next 3 years. Fruit from a coastal site in the Wairau Valley, fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 9.5 g/L RS, the wine aged 4 months on lees. 17.0/20 Jan 2019 RRP $24.00
