The Elder Rosé 2020, Martinborough

Rosé from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 10-Nov-2020
Bright, pale ruby-red with a neon-pink hue, lighter edged. The nose has depth and softly-full, aromas of deep florals, aromatic red currants, cherries, plum skins along with some dried herbs and spices. Medium-full bodied, dry to taste, savoury aromas of cherries and red currants melded with fragrant plum skins and dark florals, unveiling dried thyme and delicate black pepper spice. The flavours are rich with breadth, showing the concentration of the fruit. Silken palate contributed by soft tannin extraction lends a savoury fine-texture mouthfeel. This is a thoughtful Pinot Noir rosé with savoury fruit, deep floral fragrances and silken tannin extraction. Match with venison carpaccio and pork katsu over the next 3-4 years. Handpicked destemmed then left on skins for 24 hours, and pressed off to stainless steel tanks, fermented to 13.5% alc, 2.1 g/l RS. Aged on lees for 4 months. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Nov 2020 RRP $31
