The Elder Pinot Noir 2017, Martinborough

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 25-Jun-2020
Bright, light ruby-red with depth, lighter on edge. The nose is delicate and pretty with fragrances of red blossom, dark herbs, ripe red cherries, raspberries, interweaved with a light dusting of oak spices. Light bodied with power, flavours of red cherries, raspberries, entwined with blossoms, dark herbs and oak spices. The fruit is ripe and bright with balanced acidity. The mouthfeel is elegant and supple with a fine layer of powdery tannin. This is an elegant Pinot Noir from a cooler vintage, showing red fruit with delicate floral, balanced acidity on a fine dusty tannin structure. Match with game fowl over the next 5-6 years. Handpicked fruit from Te Muna Valley, destemmed, fermented in open-top tanks to 12.5% alc. Aged in French oak barrels for 10 months, 18% new oak. 18.5/20 pts June 2020 RRP $65
