The Elder Martinborough Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 27-Oct-2016
Bright straw-yellow colour, a little lighter on the edge. This has a full, solid and concentrated nose of fresh white stonefruits harmoniously melded with aromas of white florals and rich honeysuckle nuances, along with hints of nutty and flinty lees detail. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the flavours of white stonefruits ae a little restrained in expression, but gradually reveal layers of white florals and sweet honeysuckle notes, and flinty lees elements. The palate possesses a lush, concentrated core and good presence. The wine follows a light-textured line and the mouthfeel is enlivened by bright, refreshing acidity. The wine carries positively to a sustained finish of stonefruits and nuts. This is a well-concentrated dry Pinot Gris with stylishly restrained flavours of white stonefruit and subtle notes of honeysuckle and nutty lees on a refreshing, lively palate. Serve with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 4 years. Lincoln Berrysmith clone fruit, hand-picked and sorted and tank-fermented at warm temperatures to 13.35% alc. and <2.0 g/L RS, the wine aged 6 months on lees in barrel. 17.5/20 Oct 2016 RRP $42.00
