The Darling Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2013

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 18-Aug-2014
Fruit from two sites, the ‘Crawford’ in Rapaura, and the ‘Antipode’ in Fareham Lane, a portion fermented with aroma releasing yeasts, and a 10% parcel by indigenous yeasts in barrel to 13.0% alc. and 4.0 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. Bright, even, pale straw-yellow colour with green hues. The nose is fresh and elegant with a building volume and array of exotic floral aromatics, revealing gooseberry and nettle-like herbaceous fruits, pungent herbs, and spice nuances. Dry to taste and elegantly presented, flavours of gooseberries and green stonefruits open out with an array of herb and spice nuances. The mouthfeel has a tight linearity with refreshing, lacy acidity providing good cut and tension. The palate has a slippery flow, leading to a long, lingering fine finish. This is an elegant and refreshing Sauvignon Blanc with an array of green stonefruit and herb flavours. Serve with seafood, salads and vegetables, and Mediterranean fare over the next 2 years. Certified BioGro organic. 17.5+/20 Aug 2014 RRP $22.00
