The Darling Marlborough Pinot Gris 2013

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 18-Aug-2014
Bright pale straw colour with slight green hues. This has an elegantly proportioned, bright and youthfully fresh nose of yellow stonefruits with subtle floral perfumes, honeysuckle and spice detail adding interest. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, aromatic fruit flavours of stonefruits and florals show a delicate richness and succulence, forming a slender, but well-concentrated core. Very fine-grained textures and soft, lacy acidity provide an underlying linearity and good palate drive. The wine carries through to a sustained finish with some alcohol power showing. This is an elegant and slender, dry Pinot Gris with fine textures and good linearity. Match with poultry and pork over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from the ‘Crawford’ vineyard, Rapaura, a parcel fermented with aroma releasing yeasts, and 20% by indigenous yeasts in barrel to 13.0% alc. and 6.0 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. Certified BioGro organic. 17.5/20 Aug 2014 RRP $22.00
