The Darling Marlborough Chardonnay 2012

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 18-Aug-2014
Fruit from the ‘Folium’ vineyard, Southern Valleys, indigenous yeast barrel-fermented to 14.0% alc. and 2.0 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees in seasoned oak with approx. 25% MLF. Bright, light straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues, pale on edge. The nose is firm, tightly concentrated and penetrating with gunflint reduction aromas, gradually revealing citrus and stonefruit notes along with creamy and nutty MLF elements. Full-bodied and well-concentrated, the palate features a rounded core of citrus and stonefruits infused with gunflint reductive complexities. The mouthfeel is smooth, soft and very integrated with a seamless flow. Layers of creamy, nutty barrel-ferment and MLF nuances unfold, and are balanced by piquant acidity that provides tension and line, leading to a sustained finish. Showing bold reductive complexities on bouquet, this is a smooth and creamy, well-concentrated Chardonnay. Serve with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 4+ years. Certified BioGro organic. 18.0+/20 Aug 2014 RRP $32.00
